時代不斷改變，許多潮語已變成生活用語，例如：o嘴、HEA、屈機等等，但其實潮語有分為潮字、縮合字等。

潮字
Cool head：在壓力大的時候仍能保持冷靜
Big up：表示支援或鼓勵
Glass ceiling：非正式的限制，阻礙某些人的晉升
Fire off：快速
Work life balance：平衡工作與生活
Hotdesking：共用工作、工作間

LOL ： Laughing out loud （形容大聲笑）

TGIF： Thank God it's Friday!（感謝神呀!終於到星期五了!）
LMCOT：Let me clarify one thing. （讓我澄清一件事）
WDYMB ： What do you mean by? （你究意甚麼意思?）
WDYM ：Whatever do you mean… （無論你指的是甚麼意思也好…）
LMAP ：Leave me alone please. （請讓我一個人）

其實不但香港有潮語，英國也有。在英國，潮童說有「beef」，原來不是有「牛肉」，而是有「問題」；「rents」不是說「租金」，而是指「家長」。這些潮語令家長摸不著頭腦，更令他們覺得自己與時代脫節。英國親子慈善機構「Parentline Plus」，最近就在他們的http://www.gotateenager.org.uk網站，加上潮語辭典「Jargon Buster」一欄(http://familylives.org.uk/advice/teenagers/you-and-your-teen/jargon-buster/)，協助家長攻破潮語密碼。

Bait
解釋：obvious（明顯）
例句：That's so bait.（好明顯啦。）

Beef
解釋：problem, friction（問題，磨擦）
例句：What's your beef?（你有甚麼問題？）
Blaze
解釋：to smoke（抽煙）
例句：They are blazing up over there.（他們在那抽煙。）
Blud
解釋：friend, mate（朋友，老友）
例句：What you up to blud?（老友你怎樣了？）
Buff
解釋：attractive, fit（有吸引力，壯健）
例句：That boy is so buff.（那男孩好正。）
Butters
解釋：ugly（醜）
例句：That girl is so butters.（那女孩好醜樣。）
Clock
解釋：caught out（被逮到）
解釋：Jason got clocked seeing that girl the other day.（賈森被捉到前幾天見那女孩。）
Cotching
解釋：chilling out（休息）
例句：We're just cotching around my friend's house.（我們在朋友家中休息。）
Crunk 
解釋：crazy, drunk（瘋狂，醉酒）
例句：Let's get crunk tonight.（今晚去癲。）
Deep
解釋：bad, misbehaving（差，失體）
例句：What he did to Dave was deep.（他對戴夫很差。）
Dry
解釋：boring（沉悶）
例句：This party is so dry.（這派對很悶。）
Endz
解釋：neighbourhood（鄰近地區）
例句：My friend lives in those endz.（我的朋友住在那社區。）
Feds
解釋：police（警察）
例句：The feds are coming.（警察來了。）
Flossing
解釋：Showing off（炫耀）
例句：Look at him over there flossing.（瞧他那樣炫耀自己。）
Gaged
解釋：robbed（打劫）
例句：I gaged that boy.（我打劫了那男孩。）
Hench
解釋：strong（健壯）
例句：Check me out, I'm proper hench.（讓我出院，我夠健康了。）
Jacked 解釋：stolen（偷竊）
例句：My phone got jacked today.（我今日被人偷了電話。）
Jook
解釋：to stab or steal（刀插或偷竊）
例句：Shall we jook him for that phone?（我們是否要為那電話做他世界？）
Nang
解釋：brilliant（出色）
例句：That music is nang.（那音樂很出色。）

解釋：excellent（出色）
例句：That new track is off the hook.（那首新歌好出位。）

解釋：parents（家長）
例句：He's going on holiday with his rents.（他跟家長去度假。）

我認為這些潮語很有趣，牠代表了時代的轉變及進步，更代表一個地方文化的特色。如果那些英國潮語沒有加上中文的解釋，相信我不會明白，所以潮語亦有排他性，外地人難以理解其意思。
