潮語錄 (By Wan Michelle)

時代不斷改變,許多潮語已變成生活用語,例如:o嘴、HEA、屈機等等,但其實潮語有分為潮字縮合字等。

其實不但香港有潮語,英國也有在英國,潮童說有「beef」,原來不是有「牛肉」,而是有「問題」;「rents」不是說「租金」,而是指「家長」。這潮語令家長摸不著頭腦,更令他們覺得自己與時代脫節。英國親子慈善機構「Parentline Plus」,最近就在他們的http://www.gotateenager.org.uk網站,加上潮語辭典「Jargon Buster」一欄(http://familylives.org.uk/advice/teenagers/you-and-your-teen/jargon-buster/),協助家長攻破潮語密碼。

Bait
解釋:obvious(明顯)
例句:That's so bait.(好明顯啦。)
Beef
解釋:problem, friction(問題,磨擦)
例句:What's your beef?(你有甚麼問題?)

解釋:to smoke(抽煙)
例句:They are blazing up over there.(他們在那抽煙。)

我認為這些潮語很有趣,牠代表了時代的轉變及進步,更代表一個地方文化的特色。如果那些英國潮語沒有加上中文的解釋,相信我不會明白,所以潮語亦有排他性,外地人難以理解其意思。

  2. 在香港的縮合字中,我只看得明和用過thx。
    英國的潮語真是看得我一頭冒水,大概要了解當地文化才能明白。
    dry解boring,會不會跟我們常說「生活好dry,好想拍拖」的意思相近呢?

  3. It sounds interesting. Though it may bring some fun to people, I think this is not a good phenomenon, regarding to the foreigners. As we know that language creates identity, having this kind of language can strengthen the identity of being a Britain with no doubt. However, I think this will create barriers for foreigners to understand their meaning. If this situation goes into serious, I bet there will be conflicts due to the misunderstanding. So why do we have to create more and more meanings for the already-having-a-meaning words?

    Just want to see this phenomenon in an alternative way, haha !

  4. 我覺得英國的潮語十分有趣生動,不過對於外國人來說的確很難明白,如 "That girl is so butters".,被人嘲笑也懵然不知。從你的分享的確可以學到不少潮語,可惜不能應用,因為應該沒有人明白。
