“Let it go” is a symbolic theme song of “Frozen” which is
a Disney animation movie filmed in 2013. “Frozen” was awarded Best Animated
Feature, Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, etc. More
importantly, Let It Go was awarded Best Original Song in two ceremonies. It completely
shows that how Let It Go is such an epic song. I was also addicted to this song
before.
This time I would like to introduce you guys about the
other 25 languages of this song. It includes Cantonese and Mandarin and the
lyrics fit the melody!
Although I am a big fan of Let It Go, I wanna be a bit
picky this time. The Mandarin lyrics are not that accurate in writing because”像妳的从前” this sentence does not make much sense.
Grammar is not the spotlight of poetry or songs though, hope you guys would
enjoy this song and see how many languages that you know.
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen
Visa ingenting, vad du än gör, allt är förstört!
Libre soy, libre soy, ¡libertad sin vuelta atrás!
Estou aqui, e vou ficar! Venha a tempestade!
Kuasaku buat hidup bercelaru

This song is really touching and impressive! I love it so much! It is amazing that containing 25 languages. I was especially excited when heard Cantonese-my mother language. A sense of identification fills me entirely! I can see the benefits of using more languages in lyrics. It's also a subject of planning, editing and staging which is a really successful case!
ReplyDeleteThough the lyrics of the Chinese version are not that prefect, I am still impressed by so many versions of this song. I know it is hard to write the lyrics for a certain melody because it needs to fit the rhyme and rhythm. In this case, it also needs to stick to movie's theme. Therefore, it is not an easy job.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of making different language versions of the movie should be related to commercial purpose. By dubbing the movie into into different languages, more people, especially the kids who cannot read the subtitles fluently, can watch the film. Therefore, it can help to increase the box office.
Besides, with more people watching the film, Disney can create a greater influence as well. They can promote their values through the theme of the film. Hence, more people will accept their value judgement.
I think this kind of situation will occur more frequently in the coming future under globalization.
